NSA Eyes Porn Habits of Radicalized Islamic Fundamentalists

HuffPo reveals in a piece today  further documents released by whistle-blower Edward Snowden that reveal the NSA has been spying on the porn habits of radicalized Islamic fundamentalists who have been delivering speeches and training in radicalizing others.

The documents lay out pretty specific tactics for analyzing and assessing an individuals visits to sexually explicit websites, and using the knowledge of this hypocritical practice as a leverage piece against jihadists to undermine their message of radicalism.  From the article:

Stewart Baker, a one-time general counsel for the NSA and a top Homeland Security official in the Bush administration, said that the idea of using potentially embarrassing information to undermine targets is a sound one. “If people are engaged in trying to recruit folks to kill Americans and we can discredit them, we ought to,” said Baker. “On the whole, it’s fairer and maybe more humane” than bombing a target, he said, describing the tactic as “dropping the truth on them.”

This is really the thing Americans were kind of hoping the NSA would do with it’s vast snooping powers – look into the porn habits of hypocritical “bad guys” and use that information to undo them.  It’s a really great and wonderful thing to find out if Ibn Sheik Muhammad bin Bazir shrieking at the top of his lungs that the USA is the Great Satan and deserves to be burnt to the ground by the faithful happens to have certain predilections for unorthodox visual stimulation.  That’s precisely what we want our spy agencies doing in a proactive sense, apart from the standard issue checking up on the goings on within friendly and not-so-friendly nation states.

I think I speak for most progressives when I say, good job!  But:
